We’re in the second quarter of 2008 and despite the forecasted slow-down in the economy - investment in software projects is full-speed ahead. We are seeing continued, and in some cases quite aggressive, investment in business solutions and next generation software applications among our clients. Some key areas to keep an eye out for in 2008 are:
· Incorporation of Web 2.0 and social networking capabilities into applications in meaningful and manageable ways - "Eureka 2.0" software as dubbed by IDC. From mash-ups and tag clouds to blogs and community driven content, Eureka’s clients are requesting solutions with richer social capabilities.
· Once dubbed simply as "eye-candy", the interactive pizzazz that Rich Internet Application (or RIA) technologies enable are fast becoming mainstream in our applications. And with the emergence of stronger programming models such as Adobe Flex and Microsoft’s Silverlight we are able to deliver these incredibly rich and intuitive applications in timeframes often shorter than if using traditional web technologies.
· Whether on the device or the desktop, we are continuing to see growing levels of investment in software from the design and usability perspective. It’s no longer good enough to simply meet a functional need; our clients are expecting (and often directly investing) in advanced interaction and information presentation models specifically tuned to user/customer needs.
